BOSS II, Toscana Rosso 2022 6x75cl
This property is an incredible find. It sits in amongst the Chianti Rufina consortium and lucky for us - is not registered as such, it is therefore listed at the most remarkable price point. Head... over to Majestic and see Chianti Rufina wines listed from £20+ per bottle. Chianti Rufina is one of the most prestigious and age-worthy Chiantis. Rufina wines often have more elegance and aging potential and is historically considered one of the most significant in Tuscany.
This has been aged in French oak for 24 months and 18 months in bottle and is also therefore considered a Riserva. This Toscana Rosso blend of Sangiovese (80%) and Merlot (20%) giving the blend gorgeous rich and dark fruit with that merlot soft velvety texture. I have ordered myself in large quantities - it has power, spice, freshness and bags of fruit and is wonderfully harmonious after time spent in oak and bottle, the 2022 is perfect to enjoy now. It doesn't get better in terms of value for money.
Tasting notes -
Chianti Rufina comes from cooler hillside vineyards northeast of Florence at the foot of the Apennines, which gives the wine incredible freshness and structure. Made mostly from Sangiovese, it has beautiful cherry, violet, and spice notes with vibrant acidity and the merlot gives it a richness and velvety texture. This is classic refined and elegant Tuscany with body and spice, the 2022 is perfect now and an exceptional food wine. 13.5%

Château Beaumont, owned and run by Château Beychevelle is as ever, one of the best value Cru Bourgeois Clarets on the market with a devoted and loyal following among our clients and nearly all... London Clubs. They have made an excellent 2023 which we all loved when we tasted it in Bordeaux last month
"Notes of dark berry and walnut here. It’s medium-bodied with a grainy texture and some good fruit at the end." 89-90 points, James Suckling
"Friendly and clean, the palate shows some high-toned tannin accentuated by the acidity of the vintage, but the overall sense comes across in a mid palate with friendly plum and brambly red fruit character. A solid Cru Bourgeois. Drink 2026 - 2036" 90 points, Panos Kakaviatos, Decanter

Chateau Beychevelle 4eme Cru Classe, Saint-Julien 2023 6x75cl
Chateau Beychevelle 2023 has been released at £718 per case (12x75cl). making it the cheapest Beychevelle on the market and a marvellous investment grade wine with the last 5 vintages showing an... average 15% increase in value – see the graph below. It is a classic example of the benefits of buying wine ‘en primeur’ and a must buy for us all who can get some.
When we tasted Beychevelle in Bordeaux last month, we were all in awe as to what a gorgeous wine it was already – all the critics agree. It is without question, one of the stars of the vintage
"The 2023 Beychevelle is fabulous. As always, Beychevelle includes quite a bit more Merlot than most wines in the appellation, but the Cabernet is especially high here. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, mocha, licorice and lavender build in the glass. This juicy, extroverted Saint-Julien has a ton to offer. The combination of fruit intensity, acid and supporting structure is superb. The 2023 is showy, but not at all overdone. Beychevelle remains one of the most distinctive wines in all of Bordeaux. It is especially classy in this edition. Tasted two times. 2033-2063" 94-96 points, Antonio Galloni
"Pure fruit to this, with blueberries, hazelnuts, walnut and blackcurrants. Just like eating grapes at this stage. It has a full body, juicy tannins and a savory finish. Remains vivid and energetic." 94-95 points, James Suckling
"From a château that seems to have hit another gear over the past five to seven years, the 2023 Château Beychevelle is based on 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, pulled from 60% of the total production, and will see 18 months in 70% new French oak. Its deep purple hue is followed by a deep, rich, medium to full-bodied Saint-Julien loaded with ripe red and blue fruits, leafy herbs, truffle, iron, and spring flowers. It's medium to full-bodied, has a remarkable sense of freshness and purity, velvety tannins, and outstanding length. The 2023 hit 13.3% alcohol with a rock-solid pH of 3.67." 93-96 points, Jeb Dunnuck
“The 2023 Beychevelle has turned out especially well this year, exhibiting a more integrated, seductive style than recent vintages that were constructed in a punchier, more extracted register. Offering up aromas of cassis and plums mingled with notions of pen ink, violets and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy, with a deep core of fruit and a classy, suave profile that foregrounds the estate's prime vineyard holdings on the plateau around Ducru-Beaucaillou. It's a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot that represents 50% of the estate's production.” 93-94 points, William Kelley
"The 2023 Beychevelle was picked from September 13 through October 6 over 17 days of harvest, partly because of the size of the crop and not having to rush. It has the highest proportion of Merlot under winemaker Philippe Blanc (35%), and it matured in 70% new oak. This has a notably floral and tightly-knit bouquet, leaning a little more toward blue fruit than other Saint-Julien wines tasted from barrel. The oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with strict tannins that impart a sense of linearity. Very saline, this is a saliva-inducing Beychevelle, lightly spiced with a structured, almost Pauillac-like finish. Excellent." 92-94 points, Neal Martin

Chateau Coutet Premier Cru Classe, Barsac 2023 3x75cl
Chateau Coutet 2023. 1er Grand Cru Barsac comes from one of the finest Estates in Barsac/Sauternes and besides being modestly priced and delicious it also performs well as an investment grade wine... (see below) We tasted the 2023 at Mouton Rothschild last month – it was gorgeous with wonderful aromatics of summer fruits and a tough of spice. We all agreed that this will probably be the only Sauternes we will be offering – it was that good!
"Beautiful aromatics, fresh acidity that picks things up from the first moment, crisp citrus, mango, pineapple, grated ginger, and a twist of bitter aniseed on the finish. Richly concentrated, reflecting small yields, but once again a wine that shows the huge potential of this style in the 2023 vintage. Harvest between September 20 and October 11." 96 points, Jane Anson
"A Barsac with dried-apple, apricot and spice character. The botrytis comes through with a healthy and clean nature to it. Medium-bodied and medium-sweet with a spicy finish." 94-95 points, James Suckling
"The 2023 Coutet is stellar. Soaring aromatics and bright acids drive through a core of lemon confit, apricot, mint, spice, passion fruit and pineapple. The interplay of deep, layered flavors and energy is so compelling. 2028-2048" 93-95 points, Antonio Galloni

Chateau Coutet Premier Cru Classe, Barsac 2019 12×37.5cl
Bouquet with scents of dried honey, honeysuckle, and orange pith. The palate is honeyed with underlying acidity, adding zestiness and a persistent finish of orange rind and marmalade with notes of... pear, ginger, and exotic fruit. It is rated 94-96 by Neal Martin of Vinous (June 2020) and is recommended to be enjoyed from 2024 to 2055.
It also has scores of 93 from Vinous and 92 from Wine Spectator.
About Chateau Coutet:
The estate, with a rich history dating back to the 13th century, is located in the Barsac appellation of the Sauternes region. It was one of the first vineyards in Sauternes, beginning wine production in 1643. The property was acknowledged by Thomas Jefferson as "the best Sauternes in Barsac."
Owned by the Baly family since 1977, Chateau Coutet is known for its luscious and elegant Sauternes. The vineyards, covering 35 hectares, are planted predominantly with Sémillon, along with Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle.
The unique terroir of the region, along with the influence of noble rot (botrytis cinerea), contributes to the distinctive sweet and concentrated flavor of the wine.
2019 Vintage in Sauternes:
The 2019 vintage for Sauternes was characterized by ideal conditions for the development of botrytis, leading to richly concentrated sugar levels in the grapes. This resulted in naturally sweet wines with complex flavors.
The vinification process involved multiple picking passes, with the first starting in early October, allowing for the selection of grapes with high potential alcohol content.

Chateau Coutet Premier Cru Classe, Barsac 2020
Château Coutet Premier Cru Classé, Barsac 2020 is one of the benchmark sweet wines of Bordeaux and a leading name within the appellation. As a Premier Cru Classé, Coutet is widely regarded as... being in the very top tier of Bordeaux sweet wines, standing comfortably alongside estates such as Château Rieussec in terms of quality, consistency and ageing potential.
The 2020 vintage captures the estate at a particularly high level. The wine offers depth and concentration without heaviness, combining ripe botrytised fruit with the natural freshness that defines great Barsac. Aromas of honeyed apricot, quince and citrus peel lead into a layered palate of candied orange, stone fruit and subtle spice, all lifted by vibrant acidity. This balance between richness and precision is the hallmark of Château Coutet.
In 75cl format, this is the classic expression of the wine and the ideal choice for cellaring. The structure and concentration of the 2020 suggest a long and graceful evolution ahead, with the wine set to gain complexity and nuance over many decades in bottle. Wonderful now though and can be kept in the fridge for a week after opening.
An outstanding partner to foie gras, blue cheeses or refined desserts, but equally compelling enjoyed on its own. This is a serious, age worthy Barsac and a clear illustration of why Château Coutet remains one of the finest sweet wine producers in Bordeaux.

Chateau Lafont Menaut, Blanc, Pessac-Leognan 2023
From Pessac-Léognan, where some of the best dry whites in Bordeaux are made, this is a lovely example from a very good vintage. Lafont Menaut Blanc 2023 is fresh, characterful and well-balanced,... with enough depth to enjoy now but also the structure to age for up to 10 years.
"A great value estate that I recommend to friends if they want to capture what makes Pessac whites stand out from, for example, Graves or Entre deux Mers. Has grip and charm, a little dip in the mid palate perhaps, but comes back strongly with white pear, spiced citrus and the gentle gunsmoke of the appellation. Chateau Langoa Barton 3eme Cru Classe, Saint-Julien 2021 3x300cl
Château Langoa Barton is one of the historic estates of Saint Julien and was classified as a Third Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The château has remained in the Barton family since... the early nineteenth century and is known for producing classic Médoc wines that combine structure, balance and long ageing potential.
The vineyard sits on gravel soils typical of Saint Julien, ideally suited to Cabernet Sauvignon. Plantings are led by Cabernet Sauvignon alongside Merlot and Cabernet Franc, producing wines that show both depth and the refined character associated with the appellation.
The 2021 vintage in Bordeaux required careful vineyard work and precise selection. At Langoa Barton the result is a wine that shows purity of fruit and classic structure, reflecting the consistency of the estate in a more challenging year.
Château Langoa Barton 2021 tasting notes
Château Langoa Barton 2021 shows aromas of cassis, red plum and blackberry, layered with notes of cedar, graphite and subtle spice.
On the palate the wine is balanced and structured, with fresh dark fruit supported by fine tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long and precise, with the classic elegance expected from Saint Julien.
Large format
This 300cl double magnum offers excellent ageing potential. The wines of Saint Julien are well known for maturing gracefully, gaining complexity and refinement with time. In large formats the wine evolves more slowly, allowing the structure and aromatics to develop gradually over many years.

Chateau Lynch Bages 5eme Cru Classe, Pauillac 2023 6x75cl
Château Lynch Bages has made a crackingly good, highly rated 2023 down in price by 34% from last year making it the lowest priced Lynch on the market. When we all tasted it in Bordeaux at the end of... last month we were very impressed with its elegance, vibrancy and intense rich berry fruit flavours – this will be a great Lynch Bages if you are able to get some - Liv-ex again says ‘if you are lucky enough to get an allocation’…
Lynch Bages has been under the stewardship of the legendary Jean-Michel Cazes who sadly died last summer, with him at the helm the Estate has become one of the leading wines of Pauillac with a global following. A tribute to a great man.
"Blackberry, black cherry, crushed stone and graphite. Lead pencil, too. It’s full-bodied with juicy, chewy tannins. Vertical and layered with lovely length. Quite plush. Chewy tannins at the end. Cabernet sauvignon driven. Showing excellent potential." 97-98 points, James Suckling
"A Lynch Bages that speaks more to the property's style than it does the vintage, this is a deep, shiny purple in the glass and has a powerful, black-fruit laden nose. Hints of nutmeg and liquorice come through, but the purity of cassis here is very impressive. Broad-shouldered on the palate, this is a dense, chewy vin de garde that will need at least a decade in bottle before approaching. Powerful, ripe yet never overblown, this is the essence of Pauillac, vertical, spicy and impressive. A wine with a real sense of place, this is a brilliant example of this château's unique style. Superb." 96-98 points, Thomas Parker MW
"Concentrated, intense and muscular, not a word that I have used very often in 2023 Bordeaux. You get a deeply-rooted tannic grip, with soot, squid ink, cassis, blackberry, bilberry, liqourice root, slate scrap, pummice stone and mint. Lynch Bages seems to be wrought from a different place than it was a decade ago, impressive, powerful Pauillac, with an eye on long ageing. 75% new oak, Jean-Charles Cazes owner, Nicolas Labenne technical director." 96 points, Jane Anson
"The 2023 Lynch-Bages is a dark, brooding wine. In so many vintages, Lynch-Bages is a wine of sensuality, but in 2023, it is quite the powerhouse. Formidable tannins wrap around a core of black fruit, spice, menthol, licorice and gravel. This is a somber, introspective Lynch-Bages with a ton of Cabernet Sauvignon character. I can't wait to taste this from bottle. 2033-2073" 94-97 points, Antonio Galloni
"The 2023 Lynch-Bages takes some time to really settle, so I gave it 5-10 minutes in the glass. On the nose, glossy black fruit mixes with touches of cassis, graphite, violets and blood orange, perhaps demonstrating more horsepower than I anticipated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, saturated tannins. There is a lovely symmetry to this Pauillac (not unlike Latour), armed with a cashmere texture and plenty of backbone on the finish, even though I would not describe it as a "grippy" Lynch-Bages. There’s plenty of graphite character on the aftertaste. Excellent." 93-95 points, Neal Martin
"As usual one of the chunkier, broader-shouldered wines of the Médoc, the 2023 Lynch-Bages exhibits aromas of dark berries and cassis mingled with pencil shavings, licorice and pipe tobacco, framed by creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's deep, concentrated and generously extracted, with plenty of youthfully chewy tannin to carry it along in the cellar. The 2023 is a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot." 93-95 points, William Kelley

Château Pavie sits on one of the most historic and dramatic vineyard sites in Saint Emilion. Chateau Potensac, Medoc 2023 12x75cl
“Beautiful dark fruit with purity and freshness. Medium- to full-bodied, seamless and compact. Outstanding quality of tannins, so fine and dense. It’s muscular and taut on the mid-palate.... Lingering, too. Plenty of energy. Close to 2022.” 93-94 Points James Suckling
“The 2023 Potensac is a seriously beautiful wine that shows just how complex and nuanced wines from this property can be. Crushed flowers, spice, red/purplish fruit, rose petal and mint are some of the notes that lift from the glass. Bright saline tones underpin the mid-palate and finish. This is one of the most complete young Potensacs I can recall tasting.” 91-93 Points Antonio Galloni
“The 2023 Potensac has a well-defined nose: predominantly black fruit, with touches of seaweed in the background. I warm to it more with acquaintance, and it gradually coheres. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and a fine line of acidity. Silky-smooth in texture, you can tell that there is some quality new oak on the finish, which is simpatico with the fruit. It's a good, solid Potensac that will require three or four years in bottle.” 90-92 Points Neal Martin

Chateau Senejac, Haut-Medoc 2023 12x75cl
Château Sénéjac always punches above its weight as it does this year with a price of just £11.50 per bottle in bond. It has consistently been one of our top selling drinking wines from Bordeaux... and having tasted it Bordeaux 10 days ago it will be again this year – it was superb. A top Cru Bourgeoise owned by the Cordier family (Château Talbot,) the estate is overseen by Alfred Tesseron and the team from Pontet-Canet ( a 100 point wine this year).
Soft but plentiful tannins from the first moment, this is lovely, with a real sense of grip and life, rises gently through the palate, touches of tomato leaf and liqourice root coupled with ruby brambled fruit and an overall sense of balance and cheer, Haut Medoc typicity, austere tannins on the finish, but in a way that suggests ability to age, and an ability to bring you out of the glass and into the place and the terroir. Nancy Bignon Cordier, also owner of Château Talbot in St Julien. A value, one to look out for. 92 Points Jane Anson
"The 2023 Sénéjac has a somehow 'distant' bouquet that requires aeration to open up, with graphite/pencil shavings littered over the light black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a bright, slightly bitter entry that at least has decent tension. It is not a powerful Haut-Médoc—quite linear, strict and classical in style.. 90-92 points Neil Martin

Chateau Talbot 4eme Cru Classe, Saint-Julien 2023 6x75cl
One of our most popular releases annually and a firm UK favourite from Saint-Julien, Château Talbot is in our opinion one of the best value left bank clarets. This 2023 has surpassed all... expectations and is offered on the UK market this morning 20.1% down on last year’s 2022. This is a classical style Claret which is absolutely gorgeous, it will last for many years to come and as Neal Martin says, may even be better than the 2022, we concur after tasting in Bordeaux.
“A medium- to full-bodied red with very fine tannins. It’s firm and structured, showing a bright, dark-fruited character. Focused, with a good center-palate and a lingering finish. Really polished." 94-95 points, James Suckling
"More proof that Talbot is on a roll, revved up and ready to take off. This is a brilliantly juicy but understated Talbot, lovely quality, classically-minded with cassis, blueberry, mint leaf, cocoa bean, espresso and powerful grilled fennel. Great stuff. 60% new oak for ageing, and a generous 54hl/ha yield." 94 points, Jane Anson
"The 2023 Talbot is another strong wine for this re-emerging estate. Powerful, deep and impressively resonant, the 2023 is striking. Dark-toned fruit, new leather, lavender and dried herbs build over time. There's terrific depth and intensity here, with fine balance to match. This is a superb showing from Talbot and the team led by Estate Director Jean-Michel Laporte. Drink 2030-2053." 93-95 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"Offering up aromas of dark berries, baking chocolate, plums, espresso roast and crushed mint, the 2023 Talbot is medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, with a rich but lively core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, penetrating finish. Harvested over the course of fully four weeks, it's a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot that attained 13% alcohol." 92-94 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate
"The 2023 Talbot contains the highest proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon to date, at 77%. It was picked from September 13 to October 6 at 54hL/ha according to winemaker Jean-Michel Laporte. Matured in 60% new oak, this has a fragrant bouquet that, like one or two fellow Saint-Julien wines, discretely unfolds in the glass. Quite precise with blackberry, cedar and light pencil box scents, there is a Pauillac-like tincture here. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled, grainy tannins. It’s overtly classic in style, albeit with more mid-weight depth compared to some vintages of Talbot. Displaying fine cohesion and sapidity, this fans out on the finish, with a deft touch of white pepper livening things up. This is a very promising Talbot, and I may actually prefer it to the previous vintage." 91-93 points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Dernauer Pfarrwingert Pinot Noir “Symphonie” Trocken 2021
The Symphonie is Oliver’s flagship Pinot Noir, produced only in exceptional vintages and from one of the finest sites in the Ahr. The Dernauer Pfarrwingert vineyard sits high above the valley, a... position that proved crucial in 2021. Despite the devastating floods that affected much of the region, the elevation of this site allowed the fruit to ripen fully, producing a wine of remarkable concentration and balance.
Made with the intention of ageing, Symphonie is matured for 18 months in 100% new oak. The result is a Pinot Noir of depth and structure, showing an intense palate of red and black fruit layered with herbal notes and complex spice. Powerful yet refined, it is a wine built to develop slowly in bottle.
The 2021 vintage stands as a remarkable achievement for the Ahr. In challenging conditions, careful vineyard work and selective harvesting produced wines of precision and freshness. From the Pfarrwingert vineyard, the result is a Pinot Noir with both structure and longevity.
Already highly awarded, the wine has received strong international recognition.
