Château Beaumont 2022 shows aromas of cassis, blackberry and plum, with notes of spice, cedar and a touch of cocoa.

Intense purple colour with violet hue. Very elegant and expressive nose, very pure fruit, blackcurrants and blackberries, hints of raspberries in the background and discreet toasting. A whiff of vanilla and discreet floral hints in the background. On the palate well-structured with balanced tannins, good aromatic length, very appealing finish, a very elegant and classic Cissac style, however interpreted in a contemporary way. 92 Points Markus Del Monego MW
A good vintage at this estate, with vibrant red cherry and damson fruit, a good dollop of black pepper spice and fresh floral aromatics. With vines near the Gironde Estuary far north in the Médoc, a textbook example of success from cooler Left Bank terroir in this vintage, with bright and brambly cassis and plum, delivered in a straightforward fashion. I like the mid-palate concentration and depth, although the finish is marked by somewhat strict tannins. In this case, barrel ageing in 25% new oak should smoothe such edges. 91 Points Decanter

Nice dark fruit on the nose, lightly spicy and subtly fragrant. Lovely perfumed attack of blue fruits, some plumpness and a hit of sweet oak too. Has that Saint-Estèphe grip, and a delicious black cherry finish.

Le C des Carmes Haut Brion 2022 is the second wine of Château Les Carmes Haut Brion, one of the most distinctive and sought after estates in Bordeaux. Produced in very limited quantities,... allocations of both Le C and the grand vin are consistently tight, reflecting the estate’s growing reputation and meticulous vineyard selection.
Unlike many second wines in Bordeaux, Le C des Carmes Haut Brion has its own identity rather than simply being a lighter version of the grand vin. The blend is led by a high proportion of Cabernet Franc, which brings freshness, perfume and precision to the wine. The grand vin itself also contains an unusually large amount of Cabernet Franc by Left Bank standards, but with greater depth, structure and ageing potential due to stricter parcel selection and élevage.
Production remains small by Bordeaux standards, with the grand vin typically around 40,000 bottles annually and Le C produced in similarly limited quantities depending on the vintage and selection.
The 2022 vintage is an exceptional year in Bordeaux, producing wines with both concentration and freshness. At Les Carmes Haut Brion this results in a wine that combines ripe fruit with energy and refinement, showing far more character and complexity than many second wines.
