BOSS II, Toscana Rosso 2022
This property is an incredible find. It sits in amongst the Chianti Rufina consortium and lucky for us - is not registered as such, it is therefore listed at the most remarkable price point. Head... over to Majestic and see Chianti Rufina wines listed from ÂŁ20+ per bottle. Chianti Rufina is one of the most prestigious and age-worthy Chiantis. Rufina wines often have more elegance and aging potential and is historically considered one of the most significant in Tuscany.
This has been aged in French oak for 24 months and 18 months in bottle and is also therefore considered a Riserva. This Toscana Rosso blend of Sangiovese (80%) and Merlot (20%) giving the blend gorgeous rich and dark fruit with that merlot soft velvety texture. I have ordered myself in large quantities - it has power, spice, freshness and bags of fruit and is wonderfully harmonious after time spent in oak and bottle, the 2022 is perfect to enjoy now. It doesn't get better in terms of value for money.
Tasting notes -
Chianti Rufina comes from cooler hillside vineyards northeast of Florence at the foot of the Apennines, which gives the wine incredible freshness and structure. Made mostly from Sangiovese, it has beautiful cherry, violet, and spice notes with vibrant acidity and the merlot gives it a richness and velvety texture. This is classic refined and elegant Tuscany with body and spice, the 2022 is perfect now and an exceptional food wine. 13.5%

Carmes de Rieussec, Sauternes 2018
As the second wine of Château Rieussec, Carmes de Rieussec 2018 embodies the elegance of Sauternes with a harmonious balance of richness and freshness. Crafted from Sémillon (89%), Muscadelle (6%),... and Sauvignon Blanc (5%), this vintage benefits from noble rot, enhancing its depth and complexity. Aged for 12 months in barrels, it reveals aromas of apricot, candied melon, and subtle oak influence, leading to a silky palate with citrus and spice layers. The finish is long, honeyed, and well-defined, promising further development over the years.
Acclaimed by Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Advocate), who describes it as:
"Pale lemon-gold colored, the 2018 Carmes de Rieussec is a little youthfully mute to begin, offering glimpses at lemon meringue pie, lime cordial, and beeswax scents with touches of baking bread and marzipan. The palate is appealingly rich and packed with citrus and spice layers, finishing long and honeyed."
Perfectly paired with blue cheese, fruity desserts, or enjoyed on its own, this Sauternes is best served chilled at 8–10°C to showcase its refined complexity

Chateau Lafont Menaut, Blanc, Pessac-Leognan 2023
From Pessac-Léognan, where some of the best dry whites in Bordeaux are made, this is a lovely example from a very good vintage. Lafont Menaut Blanc 2023 is fresh, characterful and well-balanced,... with enough depth to enjoy now but also the structure to age for up to 10 years.
"A great value estate that I recommend to friends if they want to capture what makes Pessac whites stand out from, for example, Graves or Entre deux Mers. Has grip and charm, a little dip in the mid palate perhaps, but comes back strongly with white pear, spiced citrus and the gentle gunsmoke of the appellation. "This iconic wine comes from a single vineyard on the slopes of the Saint-Emilion plateau. Mainly Cabernet Franc, the wine is beautifully perfumed with structure and tannins in harmony alongside black fruits. Still young, the wine is sure to age. Drink from 2026." 98 Points Wine Enthusiast
"The 2020 Le Dome is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot with an alcohol of 13.9% and a pH of 3.69. The Merlot was harvested on September 29th, with the Cabernet Franc on October 8th and 9th. It is being aged in 80% new French oak barrels. Le Marquis de Calon Segur, Saint-Estephe 2021 150cl
Le Marquis de Calon Ségur 2021 is the second wine of Château Calon Ségur, one of the most historic estates in Saint Estèphe. Produced from younger vines and selected parcels within the estate, it... offers a more approachable expression of this renowned terroir while retaining the character and structure of the grand vin.

The 2021 vintage is a more classical Bordeaux year, favouring balance, freshness and precision over concentration. Les Argileuses, Chateau Le Rey, Castillon-Cotes de Bordeaux 2020 150cl
Les Argileuses 2020 from Château Le Rey is a focused and expressive Merlot based wine from Castillon, one of the most exciting neighbouring appellations to Saint Emilion. The cuvée is sourced from... clay rich soils, as the name suggests, which bring depth, texture and a distinct sense of structure to the wine.
The 2020 vintage is a strong year on the Right Bank, producing wines with both concentration and freshness. At Château Le Rey this results in a wine that combines ripe fruit with precision, reflecting both the quality of the vintage and the character of the terroir.
Tasting notes
Les Argileuses 2020 shows aromas of black cherry, plum and blackberry, with notes of violet, spice and a touch of graphite.
On the palate the wine is rich and structured, with ripe dark fruit supported by fine tannins and a fresh, balanced acidity. The clay soils bring a certain density and depth, leading to a long and persistent finish.
Large format
In magnum, the wine will develop more slowly, allowing the fruit and structure to integrate gradually while preserving freshness over time.

Moulin A Vent Domaine AF Gros 2022
Unique in that it`s made like traditional red burgundy and aged in large oak founders for one year. It drinks like a top Beaujolais with aromas of red cherry, cranberry, blackberry, earth and mineral... with a touch of baking spice. The palate is medium bodied and generous, with soft red fruit character, plum and liquorice notes. The tannins are supple and the oak well integrated, lovely long finish.

Produttori del Barbaresco, Barbaresco 2022
One of the great Italian bargains; Produttori de Barbasesco owns some of the best vineyards in this famous Northern Italian appellation and has the deserved reputation of being one of the fineset... Co-operatives in the world. Its wines are consistently high quality and very reasonably priced.
Their Barbaresco 2022 is from an excellent vintage - the wine is surprisingly soft and juicy, with beautifully scented fruit and elegant structure without the dominant tannins normally associated with Nebbiolo - they are closer to those found in top Pinot Noirs The perfume is enchanting, which continues through to its long finish.
It is irresistible to drink straight away or happily sit in your cellar for another 5-7 years.

Samuel Billaud, Chablis Premier Cru, Sechet Vieilles Vignes 2022
“A special bottling from vines more than 90 years old: a vineyard marked by a high proportion of stones and old rootstock…it's really very classy and long. A great combination of pear fruit,... touch of sunny peach on the palate with abundant minerality to finish. Drink 2025-22031 95 points Decanter
“…this could be from nowhere else but Chablis, particularly with the prominent quinine influence that carries over to the dense, palate soaking and powerful yet refined flavors that deliver stunningly good length. This is terrific ... In sum, if you can find it, buy it.”

Samuel Billaud, Petit Chablis 2024
Samuel Billaud Petit Chablis 2024 is an outstanding example of Petit Chablis from one of the region’s most highly regarded producers. Domaine Samuel Billaud has rapidly established itself among the... top names in Chablis, producing wines known for their precision, minerality and purity of fruit.
The 2024 vintage is an excellent year in Chablis for quality, although quantities are significantly reduced, making allocations particularly tight. This Petit Chablis is sourced from vineyards situated on the upper plateau above Chablis, close to the Grand Cru hillside and overlooking some of the appellation’s most famous vineyards. The proximity to the Grand Cru terroir is reflected in the wine’s precision and mineral character, giving a style far beyond what is normally expected from Petit Chablis.
The cooler elevated sites help preserve freshness and acidity, while the Kimmeridgian influence in the soils contributes to the distinctive saline and chalky profile associated with the best wines of Chablis.
Tasting notes
Samuel Billaud Petit Chablis 2024 shows aromas of citrus, green apple and white flowers, with notes of oyster shell and wet stone.
On the palate the wine is bright and focused, with crisp acidity supporting pure citrus fruit and a pronounced mineral edge. There is impressive tension and energy throughout, leading to a long, clean and saline finish.
A remarkably precise Petit Chablis that reflects both the quality of the 2024 vintage and the rise of Samuel Billaud as one of Chablis’ leading producers, offering notable freshness and minerality with strong typicity.

Samuel Billaud, Petit Chablis 2023
From a small, 1.5 hectare vineyard just above the grands crus of Vaudésir and Les Clos and by far the finest Petit Chablis we know. The wine is precise, elegant and from the best terroir in Chablis.... Crisp and pure with citrus fruits and a touch of lime, with excellent minerality and a touch of sea salt on the finish. A scintillating, steely, splendid example of unoaked chardonnay. Electric and simply crackling with the tension and vibrancy found in Chablis’s very best wines. Drink 2024-2029.
