Chateau Quintus, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2023 6x75cl
Quintus 2023 introduces a wine that reflects its heritage and benefits from the acquisition of Grand Pontet, as Domaine Clarence Dillon has added this wonderful terroir to the estate. Grand Pontet... brings limestone-dominated soil, enhancing the quality of this investment-grade wine. This top-range Saint-Émilion wine comes from land that borders the likes of Ausone. Audrey Bernard, who brings her expertise from Opus One, along with new director Mariette Veyssiere, has produced a great wine here.
The 2023 Quintus is a rich, racy Grand Vin. Ample and resonant, the 2023 offers up copious dark-toned fruit, cedar, mint, tobacco, incense and French oak. There's tons of power and breadth but also more freshness than the early vintages, even if the oak is a touch present today. 2028 – 2048 94/96 Points Antonio Galloni
This year, the 2023 Quintus is a well-performing wine, possessing a dense, complex bouquet of smoke, dark wild berries and licorice intertwined with a delicate, oaky frame. Fleshy and ample, medium to full-bodied, it’s perfectly balanced with a delicate, lively core of fruit and a long, ethereal and chalky finish. The influence of the Grand Pontet limestone plateau lends additional straightness and precision to this wine, a blend of 78.3% Merlot and 21.7% Cabernet Franc. 93/95 Points Yohan Castaing
The purity of the fruit here is so impressive, with raspberry, lead pencil, cedar and sandalwood. Medium to full body with very fine and intense tannins that run the length of the wine. Mineral. Tensioned. Beautifully integrated and sophisticated at the end. Lightly salty. 78.3% merlot and 21.7% cabernet franc. 95/96 Points James Suckling
Brambled fruit, richly textured, with juice that runs through the palate bringing you into the heart of St Emilion. Push and pull in texture between grilled smoky oak and slate-scraping pumice stone tannins, this takes its time to open, well judged and skilfully constructed. 43hl/h yield, 42ha in production since addition of Grand Pontet in 2021. Audrey Bernard joined the technical team in March 2021 direct from Opus One, plus new director Mariette Veyssiere. 94 Points Jane Anson

Chateau Quintus, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2021 300cl
Château Quintus 2022, Saint Emilion Grand Cru – 300cl
Château Quintus sits on a prominent limestone promontory overlooking the Dordogne valley on the eastern side of Saint Emilion. The estate... was created by Domaine Clarence Dillon, owners of Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion, bringing the same meticulous attention to vineyard management and winemaking to Saint Emilion.
The vineyards are planted on limestone and clay soils, well suited to Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The elevated position of the estate allows for excellent drainage and exposure, producing wines that combine richness with freshness and structure.
The 2022 vintage in Saint Emilion produced wines of depth and precision. At Château Quintus the result is a wine that reflects both the character of the limestone plateau and the careful approach of the Clarence Dillon team.
Château Quintus 2022 tasting notes
Château Quintus 2022 shows aromas of black cherry, plum and dark berry fruit, layered with notes of graphite, violets and subtle spice.
On the palate the wine is concentrated yet refined, with ripe fruit supported by finely textured tannins. The finish is long and balanced, suggesting strong ageing potential.
Large format
This 300cl double magnum offers excellent potential for long term cellaring. The great wines of Saint Emilion develop beautifully with time, gaining complexity and finesse as they mature. In large formats the wine evolves more slowly, preserving freshness while allowing the structure and aromatics to unfold gradually.
Drinking window
2030 to 2050+
A superb large format from one of the rising estates of Saint Emilion, ideal for collectors or for extended ageing in the cellar.

Le Dragon de Quintus, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2020 6x75cl
Deeply impressive, Dragon de Quintus from the Haut-Brion stable is a full-bodied, generous wine full of juicy black and red berries, supported by soft tannins and lovely freshness and perfect spice.... It is balanced, harmonious, and the 2020 surpasses all expectations. A standout.
"A soft, round red with blackberry, chocolate and hints of spice and cedar. It’s medium-bodied with silky tannins and a juicy finish." 92–93 points, James Suckling
"Composed of 84.7% Merlot and 15.3% Cabernet Franc, while possessing an alcohol of 15.2%, the 2020 Le Dragon de Quintus has a deep garnet-purple color and notions of plum preserves, kirsch, black raspberries and cinnamon toast, plus hints of mossy tree bark and incense. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with juicy black and red berries, supported by soft tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and spicy." 90–92 points, The Wine Advocate "Mid crimson with a pale rim. Light but warm, fully ripe impression on the nose. And a little marked acidity on the finish. The overall palate impression is not as rich as many of the 2020 St-Émilions I have been tasting, but then this is the first second wine I have tasted from the appellation in this vintage. Just a little stringy on the end." 16 points, Jancis Robinson
