The vineyard is situated near Bourges, South of Sancerre, on gentle slopes. The soil is composed of clay and limestone overlaying Kimmeridgian marls. All vineyard processes are carried out in an environmentally-friendly manner, adapted for each terroir.

Joseph Mellot is one of the Loire’s leading producers, and Le Boisclair offers a clear expression of the appellation, combining ripe fruit with freshness and balance. The 2023 vintage shows an approachable and elegant style, with moderate alcohol at around 12%, making it particularly drinkable.
Tasting notes
Saumur Champigny Le Boisclair 2023 shows a deep violet colour with aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant, alongside a hint of spice.
On the palate the wine is fresh and dry, with bright fruit supported by fine, elegant tannins. The texture is smooth and balanced, leading to a soft, velvety finish that highlights the purity of Cabernet Franc.
