Micheal Chapoutier, best known for his iconic Hermitages, the visionary wine maker of the Northern Rhone bought this tiny vineyard, no bigger than most of our gardens, some 5 years ago. The plot is right next to his house and is the first plot he turned biodynamic, hence the label.
Chapoutier personally makes the wine by gently pressing whole bunches of grapes and leaving the juice on the lees (the skins) for a few days. The result is a dry, very fresh, full bodied viognier with hints of ripe peaches and orange blossom and a gorgeous flinty minerality and a savory finish.
For those of us who appreciate good viognier, this is a must buy – delicious on its own but if anything it is a food wine – from oysters and dover sole to mildly spicy dishes and all white meats. You will not be disappointed.

Sourced from hillside vineyards around Montagny-lès-Buxy, Buxy, Jully-lès-Buxy and Saint-Vallerin, the wine is grown on brown clay and limestone soils before being fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and matured on its lees to build additional body and texture.
Smooth and silky on the palate, the 2024 shows attractive flavours of white flowers, melon and lemon, with a lovely freshness running through the wine and a clean, persistent finish. A pure and expressive Burgundy Chardonnay that offers plenty of character for its price, this is a versatile white to enjoy alongside seafood, shellfish, poultry or simply on its own.

Samuel Billaud Petit Chablis 2024 is an outstanding example of Petit Chablis from one of the region’s most highly regarded producers. Domaine Samuel Billaud has rapidly established itself among the... top names in Chablis, producing wines known for their precision, minerality and purity of fruit.
The 2024 vintage is an excellent year in Chablis for quality, although quantities are significantly reduced, making allocations particularly tight. This Petit Chablis is sourced from vineyards situated on the upper plateau above Chablis, close to the Grand Cru hillside and overlooking some of the appellation’s most famous vineyards. The proximity to the Grand Cru terroir is reflected in the wine’s precision and mineral character, giving a style far beyond what is normally expected from Petit Chablis.
The cooler elevated sites help preserve freshness and acidity, while the Kimmeridgian influence in the soils contributes to the distinctive saline and chalky profile associated with the best wines of Chablis.
