Château Pavie 2020 is one of the standout wines of the Saint Emilion vintage. Produced from vineyards on the limestone plateau and steep south facing slopes above the village, the wine combines remarkable concentration with the freshness and precision that define the best wines of the year.
Château Pavie sits on one of the most historic and dramatic vineyard sites in Saint Emilion. Under the ownership of the Perse family, the estate has been transformed into one of the most powerful and sought after wines on the Right Bank. Its promotion to Premier Grand Cru Classé A status in the 2012 Saint Emilion classification confirmed its position among the leading estates of Bordeaux.
The vineyard covers around 37 hectares, planted predominantly with Merlot alongside Cabernet Franc and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The limestone soils and steep slopes give Château Pavie 2020 its distinctive intensity and structure, producing a Saint Emilion that combines richness with remarkable ageing potential.
The 2020 vintage in Saint Emilion produced wines of depth and freshness, and Château Pavie 2020 is among the most impressive of the year. The blend is approximately 50% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Château Pavie 2020 tasting notes
Château Pavie 2020 shows a deep colour with powerful aromas of plum, blackberry and dark cherry. Layers of liquorice, spice and crushed stone add further complexity.
On the palate the wine is dense and structured yet beautifully balanced. The concentration is impressive but the freshness of the vintage keeps the wine precise and energetic. The tannins are refined and persistent, suggesting a long future in bottle.
