Description

Chateau Siran 2020 from Margaux is a confidently made wine that has drawn strong praise from several leading critics. The blend follows a classic Left Bank shape with Merlot supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and the wine shows the estate in fine form.

“The 2020 Siran sees the reintroduction of the art series label. It offers black cherries and wild strawberry scents, cedar and pencil lead. Light marine scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a powdery texture, very nicely balanced, hints of white pepper and tobacco towards the classically-lined finish. Superb, even if tasting them alongside, I find a soupçon more complexity in the 2019 Siran.” 92 Points, Neal Martin,

“This is powerful and juicy with well balanced, opulent berry fruits – easy to fall in love with. This really is one of the few that has tannins that feel well caressed by the fruits, and the slightly higher than average alcohols gives a flattering feel through the mid palate. Nice job from winemaker Marjolaine Defrance and owner Edouard Miahle (who is now president of AOC Margaux, having succeeded Gonzague Lurton). Château Langoa Barton is one of the historic estates of Saint Julien and was classified as a Third Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The château has remained in the Barton family since... the early nineteenth century and is known for producing classic Médoc wines that combine structure, balance and long ageing potential. The vineyard sits on gravel soils typical of Saint Julien, ideally suited to Cabernet Sauvignon.
