The 2024 Bourgogne Pinot Noir from Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard marks the latest release of a wine we follow closely each year. Sourced from vineyards around Savigny-lès-Beaune, the domaine consistently produces a reliable and well priced expression of regional Burgundy.

The 2024 vintage has produced wines in a more classical style, with less of the ripeness seen in recent years. Instead, the focus is on balance, freshness and precision, resulting in a Pinot Noir that shows the elegance and structure associated with traditional Burgundy.

Tasting notes

Jean-Jacques Girard Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2024 shows aromas of red cherry, raspberry and subtle spice, with a light floral note.

On the palate the wine is fresh and refined, with bright red fruit supported by fine tannins and lively acidity. The finish is clean and balanced, reflecting the more restrained and classical nature of the vintage.

The Girard family has been growing vines since 1529, with... the estate today producing wines from some of the finest terroirs across the Côte de Beaune, including Savigny-lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, Beaune, Volnay and Pommard. Although labelled simply as Bourgogne Rouge, the fruit is sourced principally from the domaine's vineyards around Savigny-lès-Beaune, giving the wine a level of quality and character rarely found at this level. The 2023 vintage offers generous fruit, freshness and excellent balance, making this a superb everyday red Burgundy from a highly respected grower.
