The 2022 vintage of Samuel Billaud’s 1er Cru Mont de Milieu Chablis is distinguished by its high quality and refinement. From Billaud’s vinard this showcases a remarkable balance of crisp acidity and a rich texture with flavors of apple and stone fruit. It also features pronounced salinity in the finish, which is a hallmark of Chablis. The wine was matured 80% in tank and 20% in barrels for a year, before being blended and aged for an additional year in the tank. This process contributed to the wine’s complexity and elegance, with a denser hue and lovely texture.

Samuel Billaud Petit Chablis 2024 is an outstanding example of Petit Chablis from one of the region’s most highly regarded producers. Domaine Samuel Billaud has rapidly established itself among the... top names in Chablis, producing wines known for their precision, minerality and purity of fruit.
The 2024 vintage is an excellent year in Chablis for quality, although quantities are significantly reduced, making allocations particularly tight. This Petit Chablis is sourced from vineyards situated on the upper plateau above Chablis, close to the Grand Cru hillside and overlooking some of the appellation’s most famous vineyards. The proximity to the Grand Cru terroir is reflected in the wine’s precision and mineral character, giving a style far beyond what is normally expected from Petit Chablis.
The cooler elevated sites help preserve freshness and acidity, while the Kimmeridgian influence in the soils contributes to the distinctive saline and chalky profile associated with the best wines of Chablis.
Tasting notes
Samuel Billaud Petit Chablis 2024 shows aromas of citrus, green apple and white flowers, with notes of oyster shell and wet stone.
On the palate the wine is bright and focused, with crisp acidity supporting pure citrus fruit and a pronounced mineral edge. There is impressive tension and energy throughout, leading to a long, clean and saline finish.
